About Pam Hightower
Pam Hightower has studied, practiced and taught yoga in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya for more than 20 years. She received her 500-hour yoga teacher certification from the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI) in 2004 and continued her training at the Healing Yoga Foundation (HYF) in San Francisco, a leading yoga therapy clinic in the U.S. She is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists and is registered with Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 500 Level, the highest attainable by a yoga teacher.
Pam studied Vedic Chant with Sonia Nelson at the Vedic Chant Center in Santa Fe, and has been using and teaching sound techniques in her practice for over 12 years. She studied Yoga Therapy with Gary Kraftsow and Chase Bossart, longtime students of T.K.V. Desikachar and currently studies Vedic Chant with world renowed Vedic Chant teacher Menaka Desikchar.
Pam has a strong background in therapeutic yoga, which can include special movements, breathing techniques, gestures, sound techniques and meditation practices tailored to the individual. She also has a strong background in Ayurveda, including lifestyle and diet recommendations. She is the Director of Student Communications for Yoga as Therapy North America (YATNA) and previously served as Communications Director for the Yoga Well Institute, both yoga therapist training organizations in the tradition of Śri Krishnamacharya.
She is the mother of two grown sons and lives in Napa.
